FTT Interview: Reva
How did you first find out about babyfurs?
It was a pretty circuitous route...I discovered ABism through incontinence support forums, and discovered AR / Transformation fiction through the TSA story archive, which I used to write for. The two kind of met in the middle when I found Proxima's website.
You say you found ABism via age regression and transformation do you still enjoy those aspects just now?
Oh, definately. I'm quite fond of stories / movies/ literature that feature these elements.
What would be your ideal regression or transformation fantasy?
When I was younger, it was the typical 'blah blah wish I could be a fox for a day blah' nonsense...heh, I think I still have those from time to time, but more often now, I just wish I could make myself younger on command so that I don't crush my fiancee when I lay on her. I don't ever wish to be a baby again or anything like that...my favorite age to 'take myself back to' would be eightish or nineish...the years which I can remember most for all the 'adventure' I got myself into.
Many furs find that the species they choose reflects some part of their own personality, do you have any particularly vulpine traits?
I've always seen the fox as an interesting fellow, lost to destiny and bad luck. I'm the son of a porn star and a car thief...growing up with stories like Reynard and the Fox Spell which empathise the cunning and oddity of such creatures made me like them and relate to them at a very young age.
If foxes somehow never existed what other creatures do you think you could associate with?
I'm not really sure. Based on literature and anthropomorphic personality, probably a cat. I've been accused of being sneaky, so maybe a weasel or a ferret.
Do you have any vulpine habits or behaviour?
A million years ago, I used to be a prolific thief. I've since left that life behind. I rather enjoy chicken in all it's forms...and uh...well, I like the lady folk and they seem to like me. I'm as faithful to my fiancee as one could be, though.
Do you see youself still being active in the community in the next 5 years?
I see myself continuing to draw and write for the next five years, which I guess answers that one.
What do you do to relax?
I've recently discovered the facinating invention known as the bicycle...I like to ride it around, feeling the wind on my face. I draw and write, of course, but I also like to swim and work out. I love parkour...do plenty of that, trying to get my fix before I get too old to have fun with it.
Relating to your love of Parkour, what's the worst injury you've done to yourself?
I've been pretty lucky for the most part, mainly because I'm cautious and don't push myself as far as some of the other ninjas at the gym. That being said, I did wrench the tendons around my hip pretty bad, which waddled me up for about a month afterwards. Nothing worse, thankfully.
If you had a month's holiday, where would be your ideal place to spend it?
I'd go back to England. I lived there when I was younger, and was just old enough to full appreciate how amazing it was. I loathe southern California...give me green over a beach any day.
You work as an EMT, you must have an awesome story from your job you want to share.
In a casino, no less. Believe me...I've got some stories. Suffice to cut and paste my very first 'adventure' for you here...lessee
I was three days out of class. My boss swore to me that due to my newness, I wouldn't be left alone (that is, without a partner EMT) for at least another three weeks, until I found my sea legs, as it were. Well, precisely three days after that, my partner got stuck in a Denver airport. Rather then call an off duty medic in, my boss figured I'd had enough experience and let me go solo. It was a monday anyway...nothing happens on Mondays. To this day, a year and some change later, I have not had a day nearly as busy as that monday. I had three falls, a foreign object in someone's salad, and a man who went into cardiac arrest and basically died before I brought him back with sorcery and electroshock. Faced with that, I have kind of a cocky attitude with calls...if I could handle all that by myself on my third day, I can handle ANYTHING.
How long have you been active in both communities?
I started writing 'D.E.A.L.' almost ten years ago...and was digging through the support forums at least two years before that...so...twelve, thirteen years?
Recently you started a craze for Harry Potter/Hogwarts influenced pictures, how much do you personally like the Harry Potter series?
As a writer, I rather love the world that J.K. Rowling created...yes, it has it's detractors, and the movies are hit and miss, but the setting and the theme she made...soooo vibrant, and with so much potential beyond the limited scope of the protagonist. I'm not one for reading much fanfiction, but fan art is another thing entirely. Go Ravenclaw!
As an artist how important is feedback to you?
In all truth, it depends on my mood. As a writer first, I prefer indepth feedback on my stories rather then the 'oh cute' comments. That being said, a large multitude of comments on my art is emotionally boosting, and keeps me drawing (and keeps me away from writing). A lot of my work is hit or miss...if I've inked / colored a pic, I ain't changing it, which makes it suck when people offer changes / critisim. It's all appreciated, though.
Any really embarrasing old art work we can get you to show off or any here's how awesome i've become years of improvement comparrasion ... thing?
While writing on 'V is for Victim' I tried illustrating the protagonist, Addison... and three (?) years later, I tried again.
Your avatar appears to be trying to murder someone, with a pillow, can you explain this further?
When I was in EMT school, my instructor laughed at my expensive stethoscope and med pak. He told me that in the field, you only needed two tools to do the job right. Bandaids, and a pillow. I told him I got the bandaids, but why a pillow? He said it was for all the patients that bandaids wouldn't help. A little sadistic, I know, but he was joking (i hope) and he was whistling 'Stairway to Heaven' while he said it.
A common theme in some of your art is suits (Your avatar itself has a spade on the forehead) is there a particular reason behind that?
It's a tribute to the place where I developed my artistic talent...the casino where I work.
Who is your favourite artist?
Keith Haring
Who is your favourite artist within the ab/dl/furry community?
Two-way split between Lexus and Wob the coyote...they have completely different styles, and I like each for different reasons.
What's your greatest achiemvent so far?
Realizing I can do anything I put my mind to. Just give me time and an Ipod.
If you could go back in time and speak to yourself aged just 5 years old, what advice would you give yourself?
Stay weird. And in retrospect, no one really cared that you carried a stuffed animal at school.
